We only go here when our primary's aren't open. I called yesterday to see if I needed an appointment to get a flu shot for my son or if we can just walk in. So I take my son to the clinic and they asked if we had an appointment. I said no, I called to ask about needing one for a flu shot. She said she wasn't sure they could fit us in.

Needless to say we ended up with an appointment for tonight. I take my son up there for his now appointment. We are trying to check in and then Tina proceeds to tell me that I have a balance from 2012 and she won't be able to see him until I pay it.

I asked what it's for and she is unable to tell me. She asked if the address on my license is the correct one and I said yes. The address was different in the system, so she said that's probably why I never got a bill. We have been to this location a handful of times since we lived at the previous address and were never turned away. How can you ask someone to pay a 7 year old bill that you don't even know what it's for? I have been to this clinic too many times to recall with my family.

This scene shows Ariadne abandoned by Theseus on the island of Naxos after their flight from Crete due to Theseus killing the Minotaur. There are two service areas in the house, the first being centered around the small atrium. The second was accessible from the main atrium of the house as well as the second entrance from the Vicolo di Mercurio on the south facade. Draft animals were moved through this gate and stabled in the shop.[11] Besides the shop is an additional chamber and latrine. On the right-hand wall in the first room we can see a Fresco depicting the myth of Leander swimming towards his beloved Hero, while the opposite wall portrays Ariadne abandoned by Theseus on Naxos.

Its detailed frescoes, intricate mosaics, and innovative layout contribute to a fascinating portrait of affluent Roman living, beckoning visitors from around the world to explore its many mysteries. The recent restoration of the House of the Vettii involved the painstaking removal of all that dirt and wax using lasers, a process called photoablation. Ultrasound and thermal imaging helped conservators understand how the walls themselves were deteriorating with time, and how to shore them up without damaging the frescoes. In addition to being a little prudish, Pompeii’s early caretakers also made some well-intentioned mistakes. To protect frescoes from the region’s heat and humidity, they painted on a solution of wax and benzine, which oxidized the pigments over time, darkening the colors and making the images far less crisp and lively than they would have appeared on the eve of the eruption.

Amphion and Zethus were twins bore by Antiope, niece of Lykos, after being seduced by Zeus. After the twins were born, Lykos exposed them on Mt. Cithairon, but they were found by a shepherd who took them in. As punishment, Lykos imprisoned Antiope and allowed his wife, Dirce, to treat her cruelly.
Archaeologists discover four new rooms in Pompeii house, shedding light on life of the ancient middle class
“This is the house which tells the story of Roman society,” Gabriel Zuchtriegel, the director of Pompeii archaeological park, told The Guardian. In conclusion, the House of the Vettii is a remarkable symbol of Pompeii’s past grandeur and the enduring legacy of Roman civilisation. From its magnificent frescoes and intricate architectural details to the compelling story of its owners, every aspect of this house offers a unique window into the life and culture of ancient Rome. The Vettii, who like many Roman slaves would have been freed in their early 20s, likely lived here with their wives and families, Potter says.
Given fresh life were frescoes made in the latest fashion in Pompeii wall decoration, before the flourishing city was buried under the volcanic ash furiously spewing from Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD. The House of the Vettii has been closed to visitors for 20 years, with a brief interruption restricted to the entrance hall and the atrium in 2016, although this area was subsequently closed off again to enable the completion of the restoration work. It will now take its place once again as one of the highlights of a visit to Pompeii. The house has been included in the list of buildings that will remain open on a permanent basis to visitors in 2023. It is always included in guides to the UNESCO World Heritage site and books on ancient art as a result of its extraordinary frescoes and the sculptures that adorned the large garden. As one of the most opulent homes in Pompeii, the House of the Vettii is widely regarded as a vital archaeological resource for understanding the social and cultural dynamics of the Roman era.
After years in slavery, the men “then had an incredible career after that and reached the highest ranks of local society, at least economically,” judging by their upscale domus and garden, Zuchtriegel said. “They evidently tried to show their new status also through culture and through Greek mythological paintings, and it’s all about saying, ‘We’ve made it and so we are part of this elite’” of the Roman world. Like most of Pompeii's famous townhouses, House of the Vettii, or Casa dei Vettii, was found in remarkably good condition when it was first discovered in the late 19th century.

This scene depicts Herakles as a child strangling the snakes sent by Hera to kill him. Hera become jealous of this relationship and sets out to kill the product of her husband's affair. She sends two snakes into Herakles crib, but the child easily averts her efforts by killing the snakes. The mythological scene, Daedalus and Pasiphae is located on the north wall of the same triclinium where the Punishment of Ixion is depicted.
Excavated between 1894 and 1896, the House of the Vettii belonged to Aulus Vettius Conviva and Aulus Vettius Restitutus, probably two freedmen brothers who had become rich through commerce in wine. The magnificent paintings and sculptures in the house also reflect the wealth of the territory of Pompeii, where wine was produced for export throughout the Mediterranean, and social mobility which enabled two former slaves to reach the upper echelons of local society. The construction of the House of the Vettii is attributed to the prosperous Vettii brothers, Aulus Vettius Conviva and Aulus Vettius Restitutus.
In Roman society, women and men socialized in the same spaces, and both genders would have experienced erotic paintings and sculptures as conversation pieces perfectly fit for polite company. Priapus symbolized male power and virility, but he was also the enemy of thieves, as well as a humorous figure that might have made guests smile. The decorative schema of the House of the Vettii provides important evidence for trends in domestic decoration in the final years of Pompeii’s occupation. That caused significant destruction, the chronology of the wall paintings and other decorations in the House of the Vettii has been a topic of debate since the house’s discovery.
The house was built atop the remains of an earlier house that survives, in part, in the form of the wings (alae) and a doorway. The plan of the House of the Vettii has two large central halls (atria) and, significantly, lacks an office space (tablinum). Entry to the house was gained from the east by way of a vestibule that granted admission to the larger atrium.
The House of the Vettii, an opulent home in the ancient city of Pompeii, has reopened to the public after 20 years of restoration work. Talita von Furstenberg, co-chairman of the Diane von Furstenberg label and a current ambassador for Buccellati, told Vogue that “the curation of the exhibition allowed it to feel like you were going through this family company’s handcrafted, wearable art. It’s so rare that such a prolific brand still has authenticity and family values.” Von Furstenberg wore an emerald Buccellati ring, along with one of their cuffs and pendant necklaces. The celebratory gala dinner was hosted alongside the exhibition venue in a glass greenhouse large enough to accommodate five sprawling tables with Buccellati place settings tucked between overflowing bouquets of pink flowers. Day transformed to night as chef Cerea’s expressive dishes circulated—culminating with near-endless dessert options, including an unexpectedly luscious panettone and his signature cannoncini (a sweet custard filled treat).
Now, thanks to meticulous restoration efforts that lasted two decades, one of the doomed town’s most opulent homes, the House of the Vettii, has been brought back to life. Marco Cantile/LightRocket via Getty ImagesRestored frescoes in the House of the Vettii. An inscription discovered on a wall gives the name of the enslaved person who worked here in Casa dei Vetti, Eutychis, describing her as a "Greek of beautiful manners" alongside an engraving that lists her services, ranging from one to 16 asses (a local currency). After being buried under rubble for nearly two millennia, Pompeii's House of the Vettii has reopened to the public following 20 years of restoration work. The tantalising fresh insights into the everyday life of one of the most celebrated remnants of the ancient world has delighted tourists and rewarded experts.

This painting depicts the lovers Hero and Leander who lived on opposite shores of the Hellespont. Leander wished to be with his lover so he swam the strait each night, guided by torches Hero placed in a tower on the beach. While some have hypothesized the two were brothers, there is no certainty about that. DeAgostini/Getty ImagesOne of the most astounding frescoes in the House of the Vettii is of the Roman god Priapus and his large phallus. "They evidently tried to show their new status also through culture and through Greek mythological paintings," he said. After years in slavery, the men "then had an incredible career after that and reached the highest ranks of local society, at least economically,'' judging by their upscale home and garden, Mr Zuchtriegel said.

Since Republican society operated on the basis of this patron-client relationship, the domus played a key part in the reinforcement of social hierarchy as the patron (patronus) would receive his clients (clientes) in the atrium of his domus each business day. While visiting with the patron, each client would get an eyeful of the patron’s household wealth, thus applying implicit pressure on the patron to ensure that his house was tasteful and fashionable. Leaving the residential part of the house through a doorway beside the main entrance, we come into the area where the servants worked and lived. In the small Atrium we find the Lararium, the altar to the domestic gods, on which we can see a scene depicting the Genius with two Lares dancing on either side above a serpent, the symbol of regenerative power. The House of the Vettii is one of the most important and spectacular sites in Pompeii.

The residence "represents the Pompeiian domus par excellence, not only because of the frescoes of exceptional importance, but also because of its layout and architecture," she said. Stefania Giudice, director of fresco restoration, said it "resulted in them becoming very blurred over time, because very thick and opaque layers formed, making it difficult to 'read' the fresco". Previous restoration work involved repeated application of paraffin over the frescoed walls in the hopes of preserving them. Its nearly 12,000 square feet are replete with bronze and marble sculptures, and its courtyard garden once boasted 12 spurting fountains—all of them stilled by the volcanic eruption that buried the city in 79. Elaborate frescoes adorning the mansion’s walls, which depict characters and stories from mythology, have elicited careful study by archeologists, classicists and historians since the site’s excavation in the mid 1890s. And this year, after a restoration that took two decades, its treasures are newly accessible to the public, in all their colorful detail. The House of the Vettii or Casa dei Vettii (VI xv,1) is a Roman townhouse (domus) located within the ruined ancient city of Pompeii, Italy. A volcanic eruption destroyed Pompeii in the year 79 C.E., thus preserving extraordinary archaeological remains of the Roman town as it was at the time of its cataclysmic destruction. Those remains constitute a nearly unparalleled resource for the study of the Roman world.

After a partial reopening in 2016, it was closed again in 2020 for the final phase of the work, which included restoration of the frescoes and of the floor and colonnades. In the living room, known as the Hall of Pentheus, a fresco depicts Hercules as a child, crushing two snakes, in an illustration of an episode from the Greek hero’s life. According to mythology, Hera, the goddess wife of Zeus, sent snakes to kill Hercules because she was furious that he was born from the union of Zeus with a mortal woman, Alcmena. One fresco depicts Priapus, the god of fertility and abundance, with a large phallus balancing on a scale opposite a bag full of money. Another depicts Hercules as a child crushing two snakes, which according to the Daily Mail, may have been a nod to Aulus Vettius Conviva and Aulus Vettius Restitutus’ ability to surmount challenges as former slaves during their lives.
This is interesting when we consider that achieving the status of augustalis likely indicates that Conviva made a large donation to a public works project in Pompeii. Other works of art depict various figures and stories from Greek mythology, including a scene featuring Poseidon and another featuring a young Hercules crushing two snakes. Experts think that the house was owned by two freed enslaved laborers who built their wealth in the wine business. In 79 C.E., the eruption of Mount Vesuvius buried the site under volcanic ash; archaeologists excavated it in the late 19th century. First unearthed during archaeological excavations in the late 19th century, the home was closed in 2002 for urgent restoration work, including shoring up roofing. Pompeii's architect director of restoration work, Arianna Spinosa, called the restored home "one of the iconic houses of Pompeii".

The specific Romans who inhabited the House of the Vettii were Aulus Vettius Restitutus and Aulus Vettius Conviva, wine merchants who made their fortunes after being freed from slavery. The strongboxes, paired with a painting of the god Priapus in the vestibule, serve to underscore the wealth of the brothers Vettii. This painting, which shows Priapus weighing his own phallus against a bag of money, may represent the socio-economic ambitions of the Vettii and perhaps indicates that those ambitions were different from those of high-ranking citizen families.
Plan
It depicts Cyparissus, Apollo's lover, who was turned into a cypress tree after killing Apollo's beloved stag. The mythological scene, Wrestling match between Pan and Eros is located in the south-east triclinium, surrounding the large atrium, on the south wall. The Death of Pentheus scene is located in the southern triclinium, surrounding the large peristyle, and painted on the east wall. The scene depicts Pentheus, the legendary King of Thebes, being killed by the female followers of Dionysus. When Dionysus returned to Thebes, Pentheus refused to believe Dionysus divinity as a god and imprisoned him, banning his worship. Dionysus escaped and enchanted Pentheus to go to Mt. Cithairon, disguised as a maenad.
The construction of the house and its decorations belong to the final period of Pompeii’s occupation and therefore provides important evidence of the aesthetics of the city on the eve of its destruction. Plan, House of the Vettii, Late Republican-Early Imperial domus, destroyed 79 C.E.
Most art historians point to the house’s decorative schema as being representative of a key transitional phase, between the Third and Fourth styles of Pompeian wall painting. Some scholars consider it among the finest examples of the Fourth Style at Pompeii. Paul Zanker sees the Fourth Style wall paintings as being imitations of higher art forms, reckoning that the chosen pictures aim to turn the rooms into picture galleries (pinacothecae).
An array of newly reopened sites and exhibitions helps visitors learn even more about the doomed ancient city of Pompeii. The reopening of Casa dei Vettii is part of a broader €155 million ($137 million) restoration projected largely financed by the European Union. Named the Great Pompeii Project, the multiyear effort aims to prevent further deterioration at the ancient Roman site and continues to uncover new treasures.
The unveiling of the restored home has proved yet another sign of the rebirth of Pompeii, following decades of modern bureaucratic neglect, flooding and pillaging by thieves in search of artefacts to sell. These are just some of the many fascinating features you can explore in this unique snapshot of ancient Roman life. In ancient Roman society, homes often served dual or even multiple functions as spaces for commerce, display, and entertainment, in addition to their role as a personal retreat. As such, the House of the Vettii is a prime example of this multi-role function, standing as a silent but eloquent testament to the societal norms and practices of affluent Romans in Pompeii.

Eventually Antiope escaped and reunited with her now adult sons but was recaptured by Dirce, who ordered that Antiope be put to death by being dragged by a bull. Amphion and Zethus saved their mother and killed Dirce in the same manner she was going to have their mother put to death. The wall facing the entrance is decorated with a Fresco of Priapus weighing his phallus on a pair of scales and a sheep with the attributes of Mercury, the god of financial income, which here serve to protect the house from bad luck and as propitiatory symbols of wealth. The Atrium is decorated with scenes depicting sacrifices, hunts and cupids while two strong-boxes are anchored to stone blocks in the floor. First unearthed during archaeological excavations in the late 19th century, the domus was closed in 2002 for urgent restoration work, including shoring up roofing.

After not finding anything suitable, they instead began searching for real haunted house attractions to shoot in. They found the haunted attraction called the Haunting at the Waldorf Hotel in Lehighton, Pennsylvania, run by Angie Moyer, who served as the film's set designer. The script had to be changed in a few areas to reflect the change in setting. A Hell house, like a conventional haunted-house attraction, is a space set aside for actors to frighten patrons with gruesome exhibits and scenes, presented as a series of short vignettes with a narrated guide.

The footage recovered from their stay proves to be even more disturbing than the unsettling content found on the Hell House tapes. She assembles a team to break into the hotel in hopes of discovering the truth. The crew tracks down the sole surviving member of the Hell House staff, Sara Havel, who provides them with footage shot in the lead up to the tragedy. It is to both of the films’ credit that they only partially resemble each other. Disturbing text messages from Chase drive the two women to flee into the car, but the cult members surround them. Returning to the manor once again, Margot hears Chase calling for her, leaving Rebecca, who is killed by Catherine’s ghost.

These movies also excel at building tension through subtle scares and psychological terror rather than relying solely on gore and jump scares. The filmmakers skillfully craft an unsettling ambiance that keeps audiences on edge throughout each installment. A team of cold case investigators checks into Carmichael Manor, but after four nights, they mysteriously vanish without a trace.
After filming wrapped within Lehighton in May, the production then moved to New York City, where most of the interviews were filmed. It is revealed that what Mitchell saw was a possessed member of Hell House killing Sara; she has been dead the whole time they had been speaking to her, and there were, in fact, no survivors. In addition to a number of award-winning shorts, like High Desert Hell and The Gemini Project, the up-and-coming genre filmmaker has previously been tapped to helm multiple music videos for the L.A.-based indie rock band Mt. Joy.
The film is presented in a documentary style, following wealthy entrepreneur Russell Wynn’s endeavor to use the infamous Abaddon Hotel for an immersive theater experience named “Insomnia,” based on the Faust legend. Despite being aware of the location’s dark history and numerous warnings about ongoing supernatural events, Russell remains determined to proceed. The documentary team delves into Russell’s past and the prior incidents, discovering footage suggesting Russell’s involvement or monitoring of the events. Still, there’s suspense to be had as Margot puzzles through vintage clues and discovers what makes Carmichael Manor an origin story for Hell House LLC.

The Hell House movies have garnered a dedicated fan base due to their unique blend of found-footage horror, supernatural elements, and immersive storytelling. What sets them apart from other horror films is their ability to create an atmosphere of dread and unease that lingers long after the credits roll. The use of found footage adds a sense of realism, making viewers feel like they are experiencing the horrors firsthand. As the Barrett family's peaceful suburban life is rocked by an escalating series of disturbing events, they come to learn that a terrifying and deadly force is after them, one which may have arrived from beyond the stars. Hell houses are haunted attractions typically run by evangelical Protestant churches or parachurch organizations designed to act as moral instruction. The recovered film reels are sent to Bradley, who includes them in the documentary, depicting footage recorded by Catherine prior to and after Margaret’s death; revealing Margaret to be the masked woman. Further footage reveals Patrick joined Tully’s cult with the hope to resurrect Margaret, moving the clowns into his bedroom, keeping Margaret’s costume as a memento. Later, the cult members invade the manor, where Catherine is killed by Margaret’s ghost. There are a lot of found-footage movies out there, but not many have infused this much detail into their world-building, certainly not enough to sustain four films (though that’s being kind to part three, by far the weakest entry).

Ultimately, the song reached number one on the New Zealand singles chart and number eight in Australia.[4][6] It remains the group's most commercially successful song. In conclusion, “Don’t Dream It’s Over” by Crowded House serves as a timeless anthem for resilience, freedom, and the power of human connection.

The Beatles were such a monumental force in pop music that for a decade after their disbanding, other musical acts seemed consciously to avoid their influence. In Split Enz, however, New Zealand’s Finn brothers, Tim and Neil, embraced it wholeheartedly (this was long before 1990s Britpop, when everyone was at it), and the influence carried over to Neil’s Australian band, Crowded House. In general, perhaps too much has been made of the Beatles–Crowded House connection, but it’s there for all to hear in Don’t Dream It’s Over, where the narrow melody of the verse, all stepwise intervals, might easily have been written by Lennon.

The album's first single, "Mean to Me", reached the Australian Kent Music Report Singles Chart top 30 in June.[4] It failed to chart in the US,[7] but moderate American airplay introduced US listeners to the group. The iconic “Don’t Dream It’s Over” is undoubtedly Crowded House’s signature song. The song, written by the band’s frontman Neil Finn, was released on Crowded House’s self-titled debut album in 1986 and became a worldwide hit.

At Capitol's behest, the band's name was changed to Crowded House, which alluded to the lack of space at the small Hollywood Hills house they shared during the recording of the album Crowded House.[2][17][18] Former Split Enz keyboardist Eddie Rayner produced the track "Can't Carry On" and was asked to join the band. He toured with them in 1988, but was unable to become a full member due to family commitments.

Neil first saw Tim play with Split Enz in 1972, and said "that performance and those first songs made a lasting impression on me."[60] His mother was another significant musical influence, encouraging him to listen to a variety of genres, including Irish folk music and Māori music. She would play piano at family parties and encourage Neil and Tim to accompany her. The new tracks, as well as some from the previously rejected recordings were combined to make Woodface, which was released in July 1991. The music and melody of “Don’t Dream It’s Over” complement the lyrics perfectly, creating an atmosphere of both melancholy and beauty. The song’s instrumentation is sparse, with an acoustic guitar, a piano, and a subtle bass line forming the backbone of the song. The chorus then bursts forth with a soaring melody that elevates the song and carries the listeners along on a journey of hope and optimism.
